How to Login to VPS with Putty

Posted By: Unknown - 02:03
For my friend for the first time renting a VPS would still confused how to login to the server.Below are the steps to log into the server (VPS).
    1. Download Putty in http://the.earth.li/~sgtatham/putty/latest/x86/putty.exe
    2. Run Putty (no need to install)
    3. Fill in the IP server in the Host Name , the port does not need to be changed remains 22.

  1. Click Open, a black screen (or called console) will soon appear
  2. If the warning appears (the security warning) click "Yes"
  3. Login as : enter the root . Root (with lower case / lowercase) is a user with the power of Mahadeva on a Linux server. Root only one who can create users, delete, install, and configure applications. Be careful not to leak the root password for your server 100% will be hijacked and the hijackers could remove the whole server in a short time.
  4. When asked to fill in a password, please copy text passwords you store server (select> right click> copy) then right click once on the screen area Putty.  Take a good look this way !!! Once the password text be copied, bring the cursor to the black screen area and RIGHT CLICK ONCE. Password will not appear on the screen but actually already paste password there. Then press enter.
  5. Once successfully logged in you will get a prompt in the form of a root @ hostname ~ #which means the server is ready to accept commands you want to run.
